Dinner with the babes

Oops... forgot to put the babe pictures.. hee hee... Went dinner with Joyce, Lin and Karen (Lin's sister) Joyce came from the gym so I suppose she wouldn't want her photos taken without makeup. Lin and Karen look usual, usually pretty. And me? I was all dolled up already in the afternoon so didn't do any different, was too lazy to remove the makeup so just went ahead with whatever I had on. Ha!

We had dinner at Beng Thin Restaurant, it's a Hokkien restaurant on the 5th floor of OCBC Carpark Building. The food? YUMMY!

We had their dishes : prawn wraps and five-spices mince meat roll
We had our favourite : "Tang Hoon" but tonight's standard was not the same as before...

AND their best-known dish : oyster omelette, I don't usually eat this dish BUT this is what I think BEST in Singapore!!! The omelette is sooo crispy and goes really well with the oysters and eaten with their chilli.... OMG, the taste is simply impeccable!

Oooo.... the meat buns are sooo good. The buns are my favourite. But I must confess the meat is sooo juicy and tender...

We didn't have stomach for dessert but after a little chit-chat, we decided to order their almond jelly. It's ok... not fantastically outstanding. You can eat that too at the usual Chinese Wedding dinners at Chinese Restaurants.
We discussed a little of our Hong Kong trip. Joyce suggested we had a costume party in Hong Kong, all dressed as Santa-rina and Ad would probably end up as Santa Clause. Urm. I don't think I will look fine in a Santa-rina costume though... scary thought. Argh.
We then head out to Mohd Sultan for sake as Joyce felt like having some and Karen was yearning a something light but not such heavy drinking. Erm. So we went to this place which is next to EN Bar and Grill. EN Lounge.

While waiting for Joyce to hop back home for a while, Karen and I ordered 2 sets of sake samples (they come in sets of 3) since they had 6 different types of sake and we didn't have any idea which was good.

The set came and Karen was sniffing through the cups... and she was wondering why one of the sake smelt so "clear"... well, later she found out that the cup was EMPTY! Ha...

Guess the sake was so clear, they couldn't tell which cup was filled and which are not.

Lin ordered her Choya and since I jokingly told her not to contaminate our sake with her straw from Choya, she took 1 straw, snipped it in half and took sample taste... as you can see she won't be a sake fan anymore. ;P

As I was gladly giving excuses of my cough infecting people and how that was sooooo unhygienic, (Yah right, alcohol kills all germs right? ;P ) Lin gave me the other half of the snipped straw just to shut me up so I will contribute to my share of the sake suffering.

Karen started the tasting first...

And when Joyce came, we told her not to order any drinks but to share with us. Yups, we do share our "suffering" together too.... hee hee. well sake-drinker, what do you think of the sake at the place you recommended? hee hee....

Well then, no one liked ANY of the sake that night... strange though cos I am a sake drinker and their sake were completely SALTY? sweat? sea water? WTF?
Oh well... the group dispersed when I got a call from Ad to pick her up.

I must say that if you're looking for sake, this is so not the place to go... ha. The hunt for good sake will go on...
Ad was with her course mates at this Indian coffee shop... They were celebrating birthday for one of Ad's course mate, Rohan. This boy never celebrated his birthday before in his 28 years of his life. So there, a little cake for him and his new-found friends...

My Panasonic Lumix Camera...

YEAH! I finally opened the present Ad gave! hee hee....
Well, decided to test the camera out so went crazy over the video function and testing out picture quality... I had soooo much fun. HA!

Therefore, presenting the cats!
First, we have Boots. Eldest of the lot yet the silliest. Does the craziest stuff and trying her luck all the time, climbing windows, drink from sink. URGH. She sets bad examples for the little ones but this silly little girl, is extremely affectionate and vocal and is obviously ad's favourite.
Then we have Stripes, the notorious psycho cat that roams around the house and hisses and terrorises everyone. We deeply believe that she wants to get rid of ALL the other cats so she's the ONLY cat you have. But when alone with you, she's affectionate. Oh. you can't call her fat, she only recognises compliments. Hee.

Then we have Akiko, Stripes' most hated at the moment but the chubbiest of the lot... But Akiko takes everything in her stride and she's really smart at avoiding Stripes or she'll just hang around me. :) There are a couple of times when she wants to run out of the room but the moment I told her Stripes is outside the room, she'll wait a while till the coast is clear... hee hee... So if you think cats don't understand what you're saying, I think you're so wrong. ;P

She's a very intelligent girl, good problem solving skills, knows how to get trapped ping pong balls out from behind the doors, in between gaps. I'm impressed with this lazy cat. Yes, she's lazy, she plays with you laying down! Waits for the toy to be presented to her. Ha! But she takes care of Sammi really well. When Sammi was afraid at he cat show, she sat next to her, cuddled up and started calming Sammi down by licking her. Aawwwww...

Last but not least, we have the youngest member in the family, Sammi. I picked her up from an industrial park. She was meowing and calling out to everyone but everyone ignored her. When I reached the bottomw of the stairs, she was walking around and meowing at me. I told her to sit and she did! And I told her to wait for me... I promised myself that if she were to sit there and wait for my return, I would bring her home. And guess what, after running all my errands, she was still sitting at the same spot! I took her home immediately and rushed back to work. She was a little scared at first, but after a visit to the vet and a clean shower, she was allowed to mix with the other cats. Akiko was curious about her, or rather, was upset that Sammi took over her room. But they hit it off pretty well and have been close ever since. You should have seen her when I first got her, all skin and bones. Poor Thing!

The videos as mentioned... For the first video, you have to tilt your head to your left. Hee... sorry about it, it's the mobile phone setup. Don't understand why landscape videos always have this issue. Anyone can teach me how to adjust it back?

OMG! I missed Project Runway 4!

Must be the meds! Fell asleep and slept right through... well, until Ad came back and until the cats started playing and until Akiko started asking for attention by licking my hair? But ya, other than that the sleep was good and much needed.

So thus, I missed Christian Soriano's finale. Darn. But caught it on YouTube. GORGEOUS!

I'm not a fashion freak and absolutley helpless when it comes to makeup BUT I'm learning. Thank God for youtube, there are sooo many helful souls out there teaching people the art of makeup. My favourite girl is XTEEENER. Cos she's asian and gorgeously stunning and the makeup she puts on are really subtle and very very pretty. The colors that she chooses are suitable for asian skin. She's the guru... so if you're looking for a good makeup artist, you can go check her youtube channel out :

Ok.... snoozing time... the meds are working again... zzz :)

Under the weather...

Hmm... I wonder whether I psych my body to fall sick by Friday cos I had that thought on Tuesday, or was my Sunday bug that my body was fighting against and is on the losing side? Sigh.. it's the usual flu bug... bone aches, fevers at night, slightly better by the morning yet body feels weak the entire day. Argh... not forgetting being cold all the time when I already ha 2 sweaters on!

Oh well, doctor says that it's the flu bug and I need LOTSA rest. Yah right... have lots to do and lots to read! :) But I guess a day off work is a good thing. I need to run some errands and do my accounts. Ah, doctor did ask about my appetite and when I replied that I have a good appetite. He commented that it was good and asked if my weight was fine. Oops... well, I used to go gym and used to by 48kg all until I came to join this new company. With all the new stuff going around and all that incompetent middle management, let's just say that I can't make it to the gym anymore. Also, with all the lunch meetings, I grew fat. 54kg now. Damn. And yes, the doctor did say I should watch my weight and luckily I am tall else... hee hee... I guess what my colleague Ken called me has become a reality? "Fei Mui" means fat sister. Darn. Time to hit the exercise machine! Yuck. I don't seem to have any motivation to exercise and no amount of external influence seem to ignite any spark within. :/ Guess I have to work on my internal motivation.

So it's get well FIRST, then figure some magical formula and viola, my fat level goes back to 15%! Hmm... even penning it down doesn't seem believable. ARGH. Anguish.

Need to take my medication and I had to eat first. So it's either the almost-moulding bread or the can of campbell soup. But darn, the stove ain't working. I think the gas pipe is a little loose. Don't want the house to blow up. So will just micro the soup. Hee.

Soup in front of the TV and then medication followed by a good night's sleep, I think it'll cure me by tomorrow.

Actually, I was watching the new drama serial on our chinese channel TV8 and I must comend that our period films are MUCH better than all the other crap they ever filmed. HA. This one has alot of Peranakan culture. I think it's fantastic. Always love their culture... the food, all the ornate interiors, cutlery, beading...

OK... I'm getting a little drowsy. Must be the flu meds.... :)

Zzzz.....

Tuesdays are My Favourite Working Days ;P

Phew, I survived today's training... ha ha ha... Supply Economics. It's a very interesting course and I must go find that book to read "The Prize : The Epic Quest for Oil, Money & Power" by Daniel Yergin. Oops, another to add to my reading list. ;P

http://www.amazon.com/Prize-Epic-Quest-Money-Power/dp/0671799320

The game we played in the afternoon was very interesting. We were divided into 2 teams and each team member was playing the roles of the different OPEC countries and I was playing the Big Brother Saudi Arabia. Well, though I was the largest producer and the market maker, I decided to sacrifice my National KPI and made OPEC more profitable. And yes, that allowed my team to be the winning OPEC team. But I only managed to acheive 59% of my KPI. Darn... Wonder what else I could have done?

Anyways...

Why are tuesdays my favourite working days? Well, cos technically, I LURVE fridays and wednesday is a close 2nd close it's the mid-week mark. Tuesdays are TV days cos I have CSI to watch at 10pm, followed by Criminal Minds at 11pm then Cold Case at 12am. WooHoo!

And I made my little video of my deary cat, Akiko. She's chubby, cute, smart, problem-solver kitty cat. I adopted her while Amber was still around. Akiko ADORES Amber... follows her around and wants to nudge her with her head ALL the time. The problem with Akiko is that she doesn't like to be cuddled nor hugged! Sigh... That was NOT her when she was at the pet store. Oh well... other than that, she's a good cat. :)

So a little video album on her...

3 Happy Mondays and many more to come.....

It's everyone's dreadful Monday blues, however, they're not mine... Funny thing is, I have been having Happy Mondays since 3 weeks ago. What happened? ;P I will tell you the secret when it's time.....

My weekend zipped by REALLY fast. So fast I didn't know it's over but I must confess that it's been a wonderful weekend...

Friday was spent with my dearest girlfriends. Dinner at a steamboat place, left our noses dripping and tongues hanging, the spicy soup was supendously potent. I had to stop eating for full 5 mintues and drowned myself in water. Just short of calling the fire engine.... We then head to Lin's place and hung around the pool with my favourite vice, alcohol :) Had muscato.... YUMS. We just chilled out, pretty different from our partying days... ha. Guess we have to stop and rest once in a while, eh? Oh... we went to check out some of the photos we just took. Lin collected hers. I think she looks gorgeous in her single shot photos. Joyce looks simply fantastic in ALL of them... Sam looks really sultry... and I? hahaha... let's just not mention it ;P

(Sam, me, Joyce, Lin)

Saturday was easy... we had lunch with neighbours... well, actually we had a building committee lunch. And obviously, there are obnoxious people and highy defensive neighbours BUT most importantly, I had loads of fun chatting up with some of our elderly folks. These 2 ladies are such wonderful people with a BIG heart, both are 70plus, yet lived every single day fully. One of the lady is called Lucy and she goes to Church at 6am daily and helps other elders. After lunch, I cleaned up the house and had a good shower. Ad and a friend, Wei Wei popped by and we had heaps of fun and laughter over good wine, korean wine and whiskey. ;) till Sunday 6am. HA!

Sunday. A time of rest, I guess my body was all adjusted to so much fun or rather drinks. It was screaming for a full day's rest and yes, I did rest, right after lunch, Ad's parents so kindly took us out to eat. I was very entertaining.. I do apologise but the massive headache from lack fo sleep and tummy and backache from the monthly biological duty call was too distracting for me. 6 hours of rest was good enough to heal me totally. Thank God! We then headed to Parkway to run a couple of errands and I was happy that I went out for dinner cos Ad and I finally had a heart-to-heart talk. I know her work was eating her up... not just her time, it was eating her spirit away too.... all that negativity at work was implanting so much self-doubt that I was so worried for her. I do admit that my past attempts at convincing her to leave her workplace were not tactical. The problem was I told her what to do, instead of listening to what she had to say first. We had a couple of fights over her quitting her job. Nevertheless, all are ironed out now. She understands the concerns I have for her and she knows what to do next and when to do it..... As long as her intentions are strong, I know everything will work out fine for her... in fact, it's not just fine, she'll be more than fine.

My First Step...

I finally got my foot down to doing a blog. I was totally excited at first, then fretting over the blog name and now, totally stumped...

I guess it's hard to write anything anymore when the one you loved most has left you.

I don't think anyone would be able to understand this loneliness, pain, emptiness and sadness.

Maybe for someone whom they love but a pet?

Some of my friends called me crazy but to me, Amber is not just a pet, she's like my daughter, my companion, my friend, my love. The only one I could freely shower my love and attention without fear of being forsaken.

Amber was born on 4 Apr 2005 just a day after my birthday. I took her in from a pet shop on 8 Aug 2005 and loved her ever since...

Sadly, she left for the rainbow bridge on 6 Jul 2008, suffered from epilepsy fits which lead to her brain being damaged.

Still can't erase the day she died... Still crying and missing her every month...
